Tomás Pocinho

Originally from Lisbon, Portugal, Tomás has lived in Mexico, USA, UK, and now Germany. He started drumming and playing music at the age of seven and later on decided to make it his profession. He is an experienced drummer and percussionist but also has a love for music production and composition.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Tomás has been teaching 1-on-1 lessons since 2010 and drum and percussion workshops since 2014. He has worked with the following organisations:

  • Brighter Sound (Manchester)

  • Z-Arts (Manchester)

  • 2314 Portuguese Cultural Association in Berlin

DRUMMING EXPERIENCE

Drumming since 1997, Tomás has now recorded and gigged with multiple bands, some of which he is the co-founder and co-songwriter for. Years of experience have made him into a solid drummer, composer, producer, & band leader in a range of musical styles which include rock, jazz, funk, psychedelia, afrobeat, disco, dance rock, electro, grunge, metal, blues, latin, samba, and batukada.

STUDIES

Tomás holds a Master of Music degree from Manchester’s Conservatoire (Royal Northern College of Music),  completed his teacher training at Brighter Sound and, furthermore, has studied with the following teachers:

  • Dave Hassell (jazz & latin, RNCM),

  • Bryan Hargreaves (pop, RNCM),

  • Richard Jupp (songwriting & pop, Elbow),

  • Charlie Andrew (production & mixing, Alt-J),

  • Gareth Hughes (pop, jazz, & latin, University of Salford),

  • Pierre Alexandre Tremblay (rhythm section, University of Huddersfield)

  • & more.
